Look for pipe leaks

As you clean your bathrooms and kitchen this spring, look for any escaping water around the faucet connections when turned off. You may also want to check for leaks around any visible pipes under sinks or in basement/crawl spaces. If a leak is found, you can work with Biard & Crockett to have it repaired or repiped.

Toilet trouble?

Next, take a moment while cleaning your toilet to check for any leaks in the bowl or tank. Sewer issues are common in Orange County, and our sewer line cleaning and repair services can help. One way to check for any issues with your toilet is to put a few drops of food dye into the tank. If any of the dye has migrated into the bowl after an hour, call a professional to look for a leak in your system.

Schedule water heater maintenance

If your water isn’t heating up as quickly and you haven’t had your water heater inspected recently, it’s probably time to schedule a maintenance visit. Another common problem in the city of Orange is that our water can corrode your water heater’s anode rod faster than usual, often in about two to three years. At Biard & Crockett, we recommend you have one of our professional plumbers check your water heater every two years and replace the anode rod as necessary.

Check appliances that use water

Another place to look for leaks while spring cleaning is around any appliances that use water, such as your dishwasher, washing machine, ice maker, etc. Water leaks can breed moisture and mildew that could produce a musty smell in your house or, at worst, grow mold that is dangerous for your family and pets. Clean or replace the water supply hoses on your appliances as needed to protect your home from mold and mildew.

Test out your filtration system

One of the main appliances you should test for leaks or repairs is your water filtration system. Luckily, in Southern California, the quality and taste of our tap water is not too bad. But improving it with a water filtration system is a great way to improve your family’s safety. If you notice any leaks or necessary repairs, contact Biard & Crockett for assistance. We can not only maintain, but also install top-of-the-line filtration systems, including water softeners, reverse osmosis, backflow prevention devices and more.

If you have any concerns about your water or sewage lines this spring, give the experienced professionals a call at (714) 602-1299 or schedule online. We’re happy to join you in your spring cleaning with our expert plumbing services.
